Area Intel
"Kibale contains the highest density and diversity of primates in all of Africa. This is the frontline of great ape observation."
Kibale National Park is a massive 795km² biological corridor. While it is famous for its 1,500 chimpanzees, the sector is also home to rare L'Hoest’s monkeys, red colobus, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. The mission here involves navigating the diverse vegetation types—from pre-montane forest to dry tropical woodlands.
Our tactical objective is the Chimpanzee Habituation Experience (CHEX). Unlike a standard trek, this full-day mission allows you to follow a community from the moment they leave their nests at dawn until they build new ones at dusk, providing high-fidelity data on their social hierarchies and hunting behaviors.
Strategic Notes
04. Canopy Window
- 01 Bigodi Wetland Recon: A critical secondary sector for spotting the Great Blue Turaco and Sitatunga antelope.
- 02 Nocturnal Ops: Night walks offer a high probability of spotting bushbabies and pottos using thermal-assisted observation.
- 03 Visual Range: The canopy is high and open in spots, allowing for better visibility of arboreal movement compared to the deep Bwindi jungle.
